Finally the biggest Nollywood on-screen award show is holding today, March 4th, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island. I was at the venue yesterday and trust me the organisers are putting their best in this edition.
The 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), saw a lot of movies and actors nominated but few movies stand out from the rest as they bagged the highest nomination.

1. Happiness is a Four Letter Word
Happiness is a Four-letter Word is a 2016 South African romantic drama film directed by Thabang Moleya and written by Busisiwe Ntintili. Based on the novel of the same name by Nozizwe Cynthia Jele, the film tells the story of three friends trying to find their happiness while maintaining images of success and acceptability. It stars South African actors like Khanyi Mbau, Mmabatho Montsho, Renate Stuurman, Chris Attoh, Tongayi Chirisa, Richard Lukunku and Emmanuel Castis.
2. A Trip to Jamaica
A Trip to Jamaica is a Nigerian comedy drama film directed by Robert Peters, starring Ayo Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe Etim and Dan Davies. The film received mainly mixed to negative reviews from critics, however, it was a huge box office success, breaking the earlier record set by 30 Days in Atlanta.
3. 93 Days
A Bimbo Akintola produced movie, 93 Days which earned 12 nominations is based on the true story of men and women who risked their lives and made sacrifices to save us all from the consequences of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria. It stars A-Lists actors like Bimbo Akintola, Bimbo Manuel, Gideon Okeke and Somkhele Idhalama.
With the highest nomination of 14, 76 is a 2016 Nigerian historical fiction drama film in which the pregnant wife of a young soldier accused of complicity in the abortive coup of 1976 helps him prove his innocence.
Oloibiri, with 12 nominations is a true life story about the 1st oil well drilled in Nigeria and how the impact has affected a small Nigerian Delta Village( Oloibiri) and the lives of those involved.
