Not too long ago, the CEO of This Day Newspaper and Arise TV, Nduka Obaigbena, was accused by the staff of the TV station and external workers, that he is owing them a lot, which then threatens to shut down the TV station. With that still ongoing, Obaigbena has sacked half of ThisDay Staff, with the speculations going round that he did that in order not to pay the gargantuan outstanding salaries of his workers.

According to the workers, some of the workers are being owed between 11-13 months salaries, which, according to them has killed their morale.

Obaigbena is reported to have made a lot of money during the tenure of President Goodluck Jonathan, but had refused to pay his workers, and even packs all the revenue of the print company to fund Arise TV.

Obaigbena who issued out a memo, said he is sacking some of the workers because they were not present in the company the day he came around and stayed from 2 P.M. till 7 P.M.
